FAQ’s

How long will it take to train my dog?

For the lifetime of the dog! This answer may surprise you and most people are very happy with the results they will achieve after just the 10 private lessons. However, it is my experience that to have a well trained dog the owner and family must keep up the training. What you will be teaching your dog is to work for and with you through your ability to communicate with your dog. If you think about it that way, communication never stops. Most of us don't have a problem communicating, even with other humans, but what we fail to do often is understand each other. With dogs and people our ability to communicate and understand each other gets better as the relationship grows and develops. That takes time, a lifetime.

Will this training go beyond come, sit & stay commands and really help me solve behavior problems?

Yes. We will work hard to lay a foundation with your dog first through obedience. Following a deliberate and special process, the training is absolutely designed to set you up to handle and solve any problem in a fair way to the dog.

Why can't you just keep my dog for a while and train it for me?

It is my opinion that sending a dog away for someone else to train is a waste of money. Most dogs will only work for those people that know how to make them work because a relationship has been formed with the person who did the training. That is why I work with only those people that want to put the time and effort into building that relationship with their own dog thru training it themselves. It doesn’t matter that I can take a dog and make it work, I don’t live with it, you do.

What books do you reccommend to help me train my dog?

Who's The Boss - by Ron Pace & Vana Ingram (link to Amazon on my links page) The Art of Raising a Puppy - by the Monks of New Skete

Why don't you offer and inexpensive group class as an option?

Group classes lack the personal instruction to deal with individual traits and personalities that each breed and owner possesses. Some may tell you that group classes are better because it gives you distractions. We believe when you are concentrating on precision techniques it is important not to have something distracting you and your dog. It is not until you understand what to do and have laid a foundation for your dog that we then create the distraction first privately with one dog then in a group with many dogs.

Where do you do your training, will you travel?

I work on my training field. I live 5 miles outside of George on the Frenchman Hills. Sometimes, I will travel to a customer's home. I charge .50/mile to come to you. Several times a year I will put together a waiting list for foks who live in the same area. In this case, I will travel and do training at a local park. I need 4 people on the list to start training.
